  In early May 2017 I phoned from Seymour to see if the proprietor could replace a water pump to a Cummins engine in my motorhome. I was advised he could, so I drove the 120 km there, very cautiously with a leaking water pump, only to find he could not do it. He then sub-contracted the job out to a local diesel mechanic, but I was assured by the proprietor that he ‘would look after me’.

  When I got the bill, I found that $70 had been added on to the cost of the part (which cost him $280), and I had been charged for three hours labour @ $100 per hour when two hours should have been sufficient. It seems that labour was charged for running the engine for half an hour to make sure it worked OK, then more time was added to clean his tools! On top of that I was charged to store the vehicle on the premises while waiting for the job to be done.

  I dropped my 98 Prado in to Motolec just after Easter as a rear axle oil seal decided to let go on the way down from Sydney potentially ending a week of 4x4 touring in the High Country. Motorlec got me back on the road as soon as the parts arrived meaning I managed to get back onto my trip. I highly recommend these guys; friendly, great service and knowledge and from my experience, very reasonably priced.

  So, for a job worth approx $540 I was charged $740. Be aware of what he charges for! Personally, I’d go somewhere else.
